Voting Attackathon

Cybersecurity Rule #6: Trust is something that you give... not something that is taken or imposed on you

Our first edition was done at the facilities of Instituto Pedro Nunes, and brought together a small group — but the right group: a top expert from Vocdoni as well as critical voices who gave real meaning to the event. The quality of the conversations proved that the impact is not only measured in numbers

Our vision is to replicate the pilot program and make Voting Attackathons widely adopted, turning them into a standard practice for testing, securing, and building public trust in online voting systems

A practical example is a community using successive online range voting to resolve a local conflict, such as how to share limited communal resources. Participants first rate possible solutions on a 0–10 scale, reflecting their initial preferences. Over time, as they see aggregated results and engage in structured online discussions about trade-offs and impacts, individuals often reconsider and adjust their ratings. Being online enables broad participation, asynchronous reflection, and real-time feedback, so successive rounds reveal evolving consensus, producing a more accurate, data-backed resolution that builds trust and reduces tension.
