Networked experiments

This project originated from conversations in the Spaces on X with the Portuguese community. We discussed all sorts of topics, giving everyone the opportunity to participate. Over time, the debate began to be structured so that topics wouldn't repeat themselves and some kind of consensus could be reached. Now we present some of that work here.

X Spaces

X Spaces are real-time, audio-based environments within the X platform that enable networked publics to engage in synchronous conversation and discussion. They function as platform-mediated spaces for live, voice-driven interaction, where participation can range from open listening to moderated speaking roles.

Experience

A citizen assembly emulation is a digital or experimental setup designed to replicate the structure and dynamics of formal citizens’ assemblies in a mediated environment. It brings together participants to deliberate on public issues through guided discussion, often using online platforms to simulate processes such as balanced representation, structured dialogue, and collective reasoning. These emulations aim to test or explore how deliberative democratic practices can function outside institutional settings, particularly within digital or networked contexts.
