Participants are invited to take part through different democratic mechanisms, depending on the work or theme: signing a petition by hand, voting in an online consultation, participating in a public deliberation, or engaging through other forms of civic participation
After participating, each person becomes part of a collective photographic composition. Individual portraits are brought together to create a larger image representing the people who took part in that democratic process
Each participant is photographed and becomes a tessera — an individual piece of a larger composition. Hundreds of individual portraits can then be assembled into a single collective image, giving visual form to the people who expressed a common political will
